Tachometers have many applications in industry. In addition to measuring the revolutions of rotating objects (shafts, rotors, pulleys, gears), the speed or length of conveyor belts and the metre count of products can also be measured using a measuring wheel.
It is also possible to determine the revolutions per minute of rotating objects without contact, using a reflective mark and a light beam emitted by the instrument. For this type of application, LASER measuring instruments can be used, which also allow safe operation on rotating parts, without the need for contact or mechanical coupling of the instrument to the rotating part.
