LED backlights for machine vision systems
The Photolux backlights create a bright, uniform background behind the object: the resulting high-contrast silhouette is the ideal solution for dimensional measurement, profile inspection and counting with vision systems. They consist of a high-density LED matrix with constant-current driver and HTTM© technology for stable, even illumination over time. The range comprises the BL2 series, with 21 sizes from 50×50 to 300×300 mm, four colours (including infrared) and PWM dimming, and the BL3 series, offering high power and uniformity, IP54 protection and large sizes up to 500×500 mm for the harshest industrial environments. Both are powered at 24 Vdc through an M8 connector, for easy integration into the plant.

How to choose the right backlight
The choice depends on the size of the object and on the environment:
- Object size to be silhouetted (sizes up to 300×300 or 500×500 mm)
- Environment: IP40 (BL2) or IP54 for harsh environments (BL3)
- Power and uniformity: high power on the large sizes (BL3)
- Colour: white, blue, red or infrared depending on the contrast required
- Dimming: PWM brightness modulation

Special lighting systems for in-line industrial vision: LED illuminators with direct light or backlighting to enhance the contrast, edges and details of the objects being inspected.

Backlighting is the most effective technique for dimensional measurement and profile inspection: lit from behind, the object appears as a black, high-contrast silhouette that makes it easier to detect edges and shapes. The BL2 series covers sizes up to 300×300 mm, while the BL3 series offers large sizes, high power and IP54 protection.
