Measurements of cable and wire rope tension are taken with dedicated measuring instruments that allow the tension of the element under test to be assessed through the forces exerted on the pulleys supporting the cable or rope.
Tension measurement performed with this technique also allows readings to be taken with the rope in service and without removing the load.
Cable tension meters can be supplied with standard calibration, obtained on commercial rope, or with special calibration on non-standard rope.
