RODER · Dakota NDT bolt tension monitors
Dakota NDT bolt tension monitors

The Dakota NDT ultrasonic bolt tension monitors measure fastener tension directly through elongation, eliminating the uncertainties of torque tightening. They provide elongation, load, stress, percentage of strain and time (in nanoseconds). The BT1-DL is the handheld model; the BT2-DL is the top of the range, with three measuring modes, expandable memory and analog/serial/alarm outputs.

How to choose
- Measuring modes: the BT1-DL uses Pulse-Echo; the BT2-DL adds Echo-Echo and Echo-Echo-Verify for small coated fasteners.
- Bolt length: the BT2-DL handles fasteners up to 30.48 m in Pulse-Echo.
- Memory and outputs: the BT2-DL has memory expandable up to 64 GB and analog, serial and alarm outputs.
- Shared functions: transducer auto-correlation, auto-calibration, 64 setups and PC and OSX reporting software.
Model comparison
| Model | Modes | Bolt range | Memory | Format |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BT1-DL | Pulse-Echo | Elongation/load/stress measurement | 4 GB internal | Handheld (~383 g) |
| BT2-DL | P-E, E-E, E-E-Verify | up to 30.48 m (Pulse-Echo) | 4 GB + up to 64 GB external | Top of the range (~2.04 kg) |
The models
Ultrasonic bolt tension monitors
The BT1-DL and the BT2-DL measure fastener tension directly by ultrasound, ensuring more accurate tightening control than the torque method in aerospace, energy, infrastructure and railways.
