Shimpo stroboscopes for industrial applications

The Shimpo stroboscopes distributed by RODER allow non-contact inspection of moving parts: by lighting the object at the right frequency it can be observed as if stationary or in slow motion. The range covers LED and xenon models, battery-powered portable or mains-powered, with versions for UV ink printing. They are ideal for predictive maintenance and quality control on motors, shafts, gears, fans, printing, extrusion and many other applications.
How to choose the stroboscope
The choice of stroboscope depends on the application, the environment and the way it will be used. The main criteria are:
- Lamp technology: LED (long life, no bulb to replace) or xenon (very short, intense flash).
- Power supply: rechargeable battery for maximum portability, mains for continuous use, or universal for use in different countries.
- Measuring range: up to 12,000 FPM (xenon models) or up to 120,000 FPM (high-frequency LED models).
- Advanced functions: adjustable phase delay and flash duration, laser for automatic speed detection, sensor input for synchronization with the process.
- Special application: UV ink printing requires the black light (UV) of the ST-320BL model.
- Mounting: handheld with a grip, or fixed with a threaded mount (DT-311D, ST-320BL).

The Shimpo models
Shimpo stroboscopes for maintenance and quality control
Shimpo stroboscopes make it possible to “freeze” motion optically for the non-contact inspection of rotating and reciprocating machinery, without stopping production. The LED models (ST-4000, ST-5000/5100, DT-366, DT-326, ST-320BL) offer long life and a wide frequency range up to 120,000 FPM; the xenon models (DT-735, DT-311D) deliver an extremely short, intense flash for fine detail.
The lamp technology, measuring range, power supply and distinctive functions of each model are set out in the comparison table above; every product page gives full specifications, downloadable technical documentation and typical applications.
Typical applications
Applications implemented and documented with industrial stroboscopes:

High-speed optical analysis
Portable xenon and LED stroboscopes optically “freeze” the repetitive motion of high-speed objects, allowing visual inspection, quality control and the analysis of rotating parts and machines in production without stopping them.

Speed measurement and preventive maintenance
Stroboscopes measure rotational speed without contact and support preventive maintenance: by observing belts, pulleys, gears and rotating parts as still images, wear, play and anomalies are spotted before a failure occurs.
