An automatically controlled white-light LED source illuminates the surface of the object; the reflected light is projected by precision optics onto an image sensor. The movement of the material is measured with a <strong>correlation method<\/strong>, bidirectionally in both the x and y directions.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The VLM60 can be used as a <strong>direct replacement for measuring wheels<\/strong> or other rotary encoders. The surface of the material is illuminated by an automatically controlled white-light LED; the reflected light is projected by precision optics onto an <strong>image sensor<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By comparing successive images of the surface by correlation, the instrument determines the displacement of the material and therefore the <strong>speed in the x and y directions<\/strong>, with detection of the change of direction.
